The City Council establishes a set of strategic priorities every other year. These priorities form the framework for the City Council’s initiatives and policy decisions. If you would like to learn more about our City’s goals and properties, you may find the information on the General Information section of the Mayor and Council page. The City Council does a quarterly review of the goals and priorities.
If you are a virtual visitor, I invite you to come to Nevada soon and experience our community’s rich cultural amenities and natural beauty along the Indian Creek Nature Trail.
Nevada is an excellent place to raise a family. It is safe and friendly. The Nevada Community School District and the Story County Medical Center is exceptional. The Nevada Community Resource Center provides before and after school child care and early learning classes for our children. There are several parks and programs to give children and adult alike many choices to recreate.
Nevada is blessed with a hardworking, skilled and educated workforce. Our proximity to Ames, Ankeny, and Des Moines helps support staff by providing numerous quality private and public institutions of higher learning. Being so close to metropolitan areas also allows for access to additional cultural events and attractions without having to live in the hustle and bustle of those areas.
Our progressive economic development focus promotes citizen involvement in developing City priorities. Entrepreneurship is welcome and supported. We have vacant lots and land available for businesses to relocate.
Nevada is a great place to call home. It is among the top cities in the Midwest to raise a family, have a meaningful career, start or grow a business, and enjoy life!
