City announces offering appointment to Raymond Reynolds as Director of Fire and EMS
The City Council Interview Committee voted unanimously to offer the appointment to Ray Reynolds from Indianola, Iowa for the Director of Fire and EMS position.
Reynolds currently is an Agent for the State Fire Marshal’s Office in charge of the Building Code Bureau. He has 25 years of law enforcement and fire experience, 18 of which has been working for the State of Iowa as Fire Prevention Inspector, Special Agent of Arson/Explosives, Task Force Officer for the FBI, Special Agent in charge of LEIN, and Director of the State Fire Marshal Division. Reynolds has an Associate’s degree in Law Enforcement from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration at Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids, and became a certified Public Administrator from Drake University.
With the Public Safety Director position being new for the City of Nevada, we believe Mr. Reynolds will assist PSD Ric Martinez in expanding the program and reaching the city’s goals. Reynolds fits the bill perfectly, stated Mayor Lynn Lathrop.
The City Council will vote on March 24 to formalize Mr. Reynolds’ employment agreement. He is expected to begin his new position on Monday, April 14th.
