The Nevada Fire Department protects approximately 130 square miles. This protection includes the City of Nevada and Nevada, Richland, Milford, and Grant Townships.
The City of Nevada City Council and City Administrator govern the City portion of the Department. The four townships formed an association and are named the Nevada Rural Fire Protection Association.
These two government agencies form the Nevada Fire Department. They share the station and its firefighters. This is the reason for the sign out front of the station reading Nevada Fire Station City and Rural.
There are four major divisions with in the Department:
- Administration
- Fire Suppression
- Emergency Medical Services (Non Transport)
- Education (Public and Firefighter)
The Fire Department is headed up by the Fire Chief, 4 assistant Chiefs, 6 Captains, and 4 Lieutenants. The Department has 33 firefighters and 12 EMS personnel. Some of these members are crossed trained in both areas.
The Department is committed to be proactive and professional in the areas of Fire Prevention, Education, Hazardous Materials, Training, Emergency Medical Services, and CPR Training
