The Nevada Senior Community Center (NSCC) is committed to enhancing the recreational, educational and healthy opportunities to the diverse group of aging adults in the Nevada area. This commitment promotes an independent and active lifestyle while enriching, celebrating and honoring life. The NSCC is organized to engage in activities supporting older adults, and no part of its net earnings will benefit any director or individual.
Heartland Senior Services and RSVP will assist in providing on-going programs, such as volunteer programs and congregate meals. The NSCC volunteers will operate programs and rent the facility. Programs include, but are not limited to, classes on health management, money management and fitness, transportation needs for seniors to medical and dental appointments and short inexpensive bus trips to various tourism attractions in Iowa. Activities will include cards, bingo, and other live entertainment. The property will be owned, controlled, and maintained by the City of Nevada.
Construction began in August 2010 and the City anticipates the completion date to be Dec. 31, 2010.
