The City of Nevada has contracted with Emergency Communications Network, Inc., of Ormond Beach, Florida, for its "CodeRED" high-speed telephone emergency notification services. The CodeRED system gives city officials the ability to deliver pre-recorded emergency telephone notification/information messages to targeted areas or the entire city at a rate of up to 60,000 calls per hour. This system allows the dispatcher to telephone all or targeted areas of the City in case of an emergency situation that requires immediate action (such as a boil-water notice, missing child or evacuation notices). It then delivers a recorded message to a live person or an answering machine, making three attempts to connect to any number.

CodeRED is populated with published landline telephone numbers associated with a property address. Cell phone and other telephone numbers can be added to the system for notifications affecting your property address.

To ensure no one is omitted, the City urges all individuals and businesses to click the link below. No one should automatically assume his or her phone number is included. All businesses should register, as well as all individuals who have unlisted phone numbers, who have changed their phone number or address within the last year, and who use a cellular phone as their primary home phone. The system works fine for cell phones too, but we have to have a street address. People who have recently moved but kept the same listed or unlisted phone number also need to change their address in the database.

Residents may also add email and text messaging as a communication method, but since delivery it is not as reliable, the City will use the telephone delivery system as its primary approach. This information can be entered by selecting the following CodeRED link.

THIS SYSTEM WILL BE USED FOR EMERGENCY AND NON-EMERGENCY PURPOSES. Here are some examples of types of incidents or events when the CodeRED system could be utilized:

• Public Works Situations, such as utility outages (water main breaks), street closings, snow emergency notices, or drinking water contaminations
• Search and Rescue Situations, such as evacuation notice & route or missing persons
• Environmental Natural Disasters, i.e. fires or floods
• Man-made Disasters, such as bomb threats, chemical spills or gas leaks
• Significant Crime Alerts, i.e. hostage situations or escape warnings
• And other City government information of importance to citizens.
