The Fire and EMS Board is a four member advisory board whose members are appointed as follows: Two members representing the four townships and appointed by the Nevada Rural Fire Protection Association (NRFPA) and two members appointed by the Nevada City Council. The Board is charged to research the Department’s requirements for new and replacement fire fighting and EMS vehicles and equipment and to make recommendations to the Department Chief and City regarding the replacement of vehicles and equipment; to screen, interview, and make recommendations regarding the qualifications and fitness of candidates for fire fighter and EMS positions; to act as liaison between the townships, the Rural Fire Protection Association, the Department, and the City; review and recommend a comphrensive training program, and; prepare and recommend to the City the Departmental budget for the next fiscal year commencing July 1.
