The Board of Adjustment met in regular session at Nevada City Hall, Council Chambers, 1209 6th Street, Nevada, Iowa.  The agenda was posted on the official bulletin board on January 4, 2010 in compliance with the open-meeting law.

Chair Greg Madsen presided and the meeting convened at 10:03 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2010.  The roll was called indicating that the following named board members were present and absent.  Present:  Dianna Haley, Sharon Johnson, Raymond Kassel, Greg Madsen, and Fred Samuelson.  Absent:  None.

Others attending were as follows:  Shawn Cole and Donna Mosinski.

Motion by Ray Kassel, seconded by Dianna Haley, to approve the agenda as posted.  The roll being called the members voted as follows.  Ayes:  Kassel, Haley, Madsen, Samuelson, and Johnson.  Nays:  None.  Chair Madsen declared the motion carried.

Motion by Ray Kassel, seconded by Fred Samuelson, to approve the minutes of the June 6, 2009 meeting as presented/amended.  The roll being called, the members voted as follows:  Ayes:  Kassel, Samuelson, Johnson, Haley, and Madsen.  Nays:  None.  Whereupon Chair Madsen declared the motion carried.

Shawn told the board about a training opportunity for the Planning and Zoning Commission and the Board of Adjustment members on February 23, 2010.

Motion by Ray Kassel, seconded by Dianna Haley, to nominate Fred Samuelson as Chair.  The roll being called, the members voted as follows:  Ayes:  Kassel, Haley, Madsen, Samuelson, and Johnson.  Nays:  None.  Whereupon Chair Madsen declared the motion carried.

Motion by Dianna Haley, seconded by Sharon Johnson, to nominate Ray Kassel as Vice Chair.  The roll being called, the members voted as follows:  Ayes:  Haley, Johnson, Madsen, Kassel, and Samuelson.  Nays:  None.  Whereupon Chair Madsen declared the motion carried.

There being no further business to come before the meeting it was moved by Fred Samuelson, seconded by Dianna Haley to adjourn the meeting.  The roll being called, the members voted as follows.  Ayes:  Samuelson, Haley, Madsen, Kassel, and Johnson.  Nays:   None.  At 10:14 a.m. Chair Madsen declared the motion carried and adjourned the meeting.
